ABORTION: Need justice for all

| August 21, 2013 10:14 PM

In recent weeks we have been treated to numerous Press articles in praise of certain individuals covering themselves in glory for their efforts to ensure that “Equality applies to EVERYONE,” “justice for ALL,” etc. Christie Wood and Tony Stewart, speaking for the Kootenai County Task Force on Human Relations Board of Directors, on June 1: “As members of the human race, each of us is constantly in the process of establishing our legacy when we are no longer here. We will be remembered and judged by future generations based on our respect and fair treatment for each of our sisters and brothers.” Mayor Sandi Bloem was moved to issue a formal proclamation honoring this sentiment.

In July the Mayor was requested to devise a similar proclamation naming the most invisible segment of society whose silent screams are ignored as another is brutally killed every 20 seconds: the unborn. Aren’t they part of “everyone”? Aren’t they part of “all”? Surely as we battle for love among all people, we have enough love to include them.

Sadly, Mayor Bloem fell back on claims of non-partisanship and declined to issue such a proclamation. It is unfathomable that public support for certain chosen life styles is not partisan, but merely choosing life over death IS partisan.

Wood and Stewart are absolutely correct that “We will be remembered and judged by future generations based on our respect and fair treatment for each of our sisters and brothers.”
