Wilhelm to run for third term on Post Falls Council

| August 17, 2013 9:00 PM

POST FALLS - Linda Wilhelm said she plans to seek a third term on the Post Falls City Council during the Nov. 5 election.

Wilhelm, a broker for Coldwell Banker Schneidmiller Realty, serves in seat No. 6 on the council.

A lifelong resident of Post Falls, Wilhelm believes her knowledge of land-use topics is a valuable asset to the council.

She said that, since the housing market is improving, it's important to have experience on the council to ensure Post Falls continues to grow in a positive manner. Wilhelm describes herself as conservative and a forward thinker.

Before serving on the city council, Wilhelm served nine years on the Post Falls Planning and Zoning Commission.

Over the past six years on the council, Wilhelm has spent two terms on the Kootenai Perspectives board, two terms on the Jobs Plus board and four years as an alternate board member for Mayor Clay Larkin on the Kootenai Metropolitan Planning Organization.

She spent a year working with a committee for the Post Falls Strategic Plan, which was recently completed. She's currently serving on an advisory committee for the Spokane Street renovation project.

Other Post Falls positions up for election are seat No. 2 held by Ron Jacobson, No. 4 by Betty Ann Henderson and the mayoral post. Jacobson and council member Kerri Thoreson have stated they'll run for mayor as Clay Larkin has decided to not seek re-election. Henderson said she'll run again.

The official filing period for city candidates is Aug. 26-Sept. 6.
