William Allen 'Bill' Erickson, 82

William Allen “Bill” Erickson, 82, of Mullan, passed away June 22, 2013, at Hospice in Silverton.

Bill was born Aug. 8, 1930, at the Providence Hospital in Wallace to William A. and Mary Matson Erickson. He spent most of his childhood in Butte, Mont., after losing his father at age 3. He came back to Mullan in junior high with his mother and stepfather Charles Kambeitz.

Bill married Lois Vance Westerfield in Coeur d’Alene on Sept. 11, 1954.

Bill was passionate about mining, hunting, fishing, history, mechanics and motorcycles. He could talk for hours on those subjects. His favorite topic was his children and his beloved wife, Lois. He was so proud of the accomplishments of his sons and grandchildren and the hunting prowess of his daughters-in-law. He was an avid reader and could discuss any topic with knowledge especially, local history. He served in the U.S. Army for two years ending his service as an M.P. Sergeant.

Bill was preceded in death by his beloved mother; father; stepfather; sister Ellen Vogel; brothers-in-law, Bob Vogel and John Murray; and nieces, Marianne Standley and Janice Hahn.

Survivors are his wife, Lois of Mullan; sons, Owen (Lavada), Larry (Corrie), Gene (Jeann’e) and Billy (Julie); his grandchildren, Issac, Nicole, Travis, Owen 2 (Montana), Steven and Garrett; his sister, Svea; and nieces and nephews, Mike (Carol) Murray, Jerry (Mary) Murray, Vicky (Allen) Erickson, Paul (Leslie) Vogel, Cheryl (Larry) Wolfson and Matt Hahn.

A private memorial service was held Thursday, Aug. 8, 2013, at Mountainview Cemetery in Mullan.
