CARE: Volunteers at Cd'A Homes are a blessing

In honor of National Volunteer Appreciation Week, we would like to thank our volunteers at Coeur d'Alene Homes Assisted Living and Memory Care for the blessings they provide on a daily basis to our residents.

Caring for the physical needs of our sweet residents is not enough; our volunteers spend countless hours nourishing people's minds and spirits as well. The seemingly simple act of a daily or weekly visit to talk baseball or knitting, accompanying a friend for a walk through the garden or reading a bit in the afternoon means everything to us. Thank you, gentle volunteers, for taking a spin on the dance floor every Tuesday during Juanita's live performance or for bringing cupcakes as a special treat. Thank you for the countless hours of massage, the times you sing with our friends or play "Banana Bingo". Thank you to our volunteers who help our friends to celebrate the beauty of the entirety of their lives through the creation of legacy books and ceremonies that highlight the blessing that our resident has been in the lives of their families and friends.

We are so very grateful for the tireless work of the Auxiliary who run estate sales or help raise funds enabling our residents to have new computers, Wii games, CD players and karaoke machines. To everyone who has donated, or will donate, to our amazing thrift store on 5th and Lakeside, we are so very blessed by your service. Our volunteers may be the only people in town who can smile and sing happily while cleaning furniture or washing mountains of china to be put up for sale, but that is because they are special people. We want you to know that we see what you do, what you mean to our beloved residents, and we are grateful for your investment, an investment that supports seniors who have exhausted their life savings. A home is built from the love it contains and our volunteers have built something unique and beautiful.

SUPPORT: Thanks for help in time of need

The Harper family would like to thank all of our friends and our community for all their donations, prayers and support. The spaghetti feed was a huge success and we cannot thank you enough for your help in our time of need. Chris wakes up every morning saying he is the most blessed man in the world because he has his faith, his family and a wonderful community behind him. He feels that God lets us go through these things to build character and bring glory to God and we are going to use this challenge to help inspire others and to pay it forward. Once again thank you all we love being a part of such a great community!

Sincerely,

CHRIS and SHELLEY HARPER
