Shakespeare returns

William Shakespeare has returned to the Coeur d'Alene High School stage.
The theater department's performance of "Romeo and Juliet," continues tonight and Saturday at 7 p.m., and again next weekend, in the high school's Fahringer auditorium, 5530 N. Fourth St., Coeur d'Alene.
This production of "Romeo and Juliet" offers a fresh take on the bitter feud that boils between the Capulets and the Montagues. Whilst still retaining the glory and bravado of classic Shakespeare, this performance will impress with its modern representation of a city set on a stage.
"Be prepared for a production of 'Romeo and Juliet' that has never been seen before, and will never be forgotten," states a press release.
Hatred permeates the city of Verona as the conflict between Lord Capulet (Mitch Clarke), Lady Capulet (Courtney Biggs), and their foes Lord Montague (Cameron McNulty) and Lady Montague (Rachael Mylroi) finally comes to a head. Amid the battle-torn wreckage of the two families, Romeo (Austin Strope) and Juliet (Miranda Anderson) struggle to cling to their fated romance. Caught up in the fray, dynamic characters Mercutio (Nick Pratt) and Nurse (Madison Gallus) parallel the tensions inherent of the two houses, through personal sacrifice and irrevocable love. Tragedy abounds and passion triumphs in this memorable rendition of Shakespeare's most renowned drama.
Performances will continue next week - May 2, 3 and 4 - at 7 p.m. at CHS.
