CARTOON: Trained on the truth

| April 17, 2013 9:00 PM

Your cartoon in the Sunday paper tells a true story for sure.

There should be a national outcry demanding the control and regulation of all small knives, regulations on the length of blades, and how many one person can buy or own. Also a national knife registry to keep track of those knife toting kooks. That is the only way we are going to be able to keep this country safe.

Please call your congressmen right away, demand immediate action! OK, OK, we all know that is nonsense. But not one bit more stupid than the gun issue. Any person with an ounce of sense knows the crooks will never turn in their guns and the good guys don’t need to. We also know deranged people do deranged things. There is no police force in the world to stop such tragedies as has happened recently.

Gun control is not the answer. The problem mostly stems from moral decay. When principals prayed at the beginning of the school days, the Ten Commandments were on the school house wall and your mouth was washed out with Ivory soap for foul language, young people had a far greater respect for authority, parents and teachers and even their peers. I was bullied in school until one day when I had enough, bloodied the bully’s nose, end of bullying! No need for suspension, the principal, parents or the cops to be involved.

Now I’ll probably hear from the do gooders about how violent I was. Get a life. In those days it was called growing up. I never heard of any kid dying from a little lesson behind the schoolhouse. Every kid I knew growing up had at least one gun and some had many. Never heard of even one doing anything violent with a weapon.

The point I want to make is, to be respected you have to give respect. God’s word says to “train up a child in the way he should go and in his old age he will not depart from it.” Proverbs 22:6 NKJ

Are you or did you train up your children?
