Della Mae Twidt, 82

Beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt, Della Mae Twidt, 82, of Pinehurst, passed away April 16, 2013, at the Hospice House in Coeur d’Alene. She was born July 15, 1930, in Thompson Falls, Mont. Della was the daughter of Alton and Margarette (Soule) Cummings.

Della moved to the Silver Valley at the age of 12 from Montana. She attended and graduated from Kellogg High School in 1948. Della then attended Kelsey Beard College in Spokane.

Della married Peter Twidt on March 7, 1949, in Kellogg. Peter passed away on Feb. 20, 2002.

Della had served as a resource specialist supervisor at the U.S. Forest Service for 20 years, before her retirement in 1990.

Della was an avid and longtime supporter and had served as director for the Valley Little League and Kellogg Babe Ruth baseball. She loved and enjoyed her family, quilting, crocheting, embroidery and was a great Garth Brooks fan. Della was also a fantastic cook and baker.

Della is survived by two sons and their wives, Steven and Antigone Twidt of Coeur d’Alene, and Clifford and Karenia Twidt of Rathdrum; one daughter and her husband, Loretta and John Lund of Pinehurst; 13 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two brothers and their wives, Robert and Lynne Cummings of Kellogg, and Sam and Barbara Cummings of St. Maries; and one sister and her husband, Peggy and Tom Fleshman of Colville, Wash. Della is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Peter and two great-grandchildren, Halle and Emma Mitchell.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 20, 2013, at the Kellogg Funeral Chapel in Kellogg, with Rev. Bob Evans officiating. A reception/luncheon will be held at the Kellogg Elks following services.
