PREP ROUNDUP: Jackson, Marks spark Lakeland to win
* BASEBALL
RATHDRUM - Kris Jackson went 2 for 4 with two runs scored as the Lakeland Hawks beat the Lake City Timberwolves 9-5 in a nonleague game at Terry Gorton Field on Thursday.
Jesse Marks went 2 for 4 with two RBIs, both with two outs in the third and sixth inning for Lakeland (7-1), which travels to Sandpoint on Tuesday.
"The biggest thing for us is that we scored in every inning," Lakeland coach Jason Bradbury said. "When they'd score, we'd score. We didn't let up and that's what it's all about. When they'd get some runs, we'd get those runs back and made them fight for everything. Lake City is a good team and Travis (Georgius) is doing a good job with them."
Carter Chaffin and Nathan Newby had two RBIs each for Lake City (2-5), which hosts Post Falls in a doubleheader on Saturday.
"We swung it a little better and were more aggressive at the plate," Lake City coach Travis Georgius said. "But we need to get better at some key situations."
