COEUR d'ALENE - The National Weather Service said the Coeur d'Alene River at Cataldo is expected to reach "Action Stage" sometime today. Action Stage is at 2,142 feet, with Minor Flood Stage being at 2,143 feet. No forecasts at this time indicate the river will reach Flood Stage, the Kootenai County Office of Emergency Management said.
The forecast is based upon the recent warm weather melting the snowpack at higher elevations and is coupled with the forecast for rain over the coming days.
The current forecast is for the river to crest at just over 2,142 feet (Action Stage) today and remain above Action Stage until approximately mid-day on Sunday. The river should begin to recede rapidly, once it drops below 2,142 feet.
