Retired & Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP)

There is volunteer placement service available for seniors 55 and older. Volunteer opportunities for seniors are available at over 70 nonprofit agencies in North Idaho. Get more information on how you or your loved one can volunteer. More  »

Tutoring & Mentoring

The “Idaho Reads” program is designed to partner seniors with students struggling with their reading skills. Mentoring programs work with at-risk children through schools and other programs like CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates), Juvenile Justice, and the Teen Aid Project. More  »

Friendship Corps

Volunteers visit home bound seniors (ages 60+) to establish friendships and provide helpful information, advice, and assistance which will empower them to make informed decisions and increase their independence and ability to remain living in their own homes. More  »

Senior Medicare Patrol

This is a program that utilizes volunteers to educate seniors on how to prevent healthcare fraud, to avoid being a target and to report suspicious billing. More  »

Assistant Ombudsman

A volunteer Ombudsman can make a difference in the lives of our community's most vulnerable seniors. They are problem solvers, and are trained in advocacy for elders living in nursing homes and other long-term care facilities. More  »

Advisory Boards / County Councils

Members of the County Councils on Aging serve on an area-wide board. Volunteer to be the voice of seniors in Kootenai County, Bonner County, Benewah County, Shoshone County and Boundary County. County Councils on Aging meet twice each year with AAA staff to advise on a variety of topics.

The Area Agency on Aging is responsible for preparing a four-year plan that details demographics, goals and objectives, areas of need, and other interesting information about the senior population in the five northern counties. More  »

Idaho Commission on Aging (ICOA)

The Idaho Commission on Aging is Idaho's Aging and Disability Resource Center and the agency of state government designated by the Governor as Idaho's State Unit on Aging. The Commission administers and ensures compliance of federally funded programs under the Federal Older Americans Act and state funded programs under the Idaho Senior Services Act.
