PREP VOLLEYBALL: Post Falls wins 'Volleyball 4 the Cure' match

POST FALLS - Savannah Hill had 15 kills and three aces as the Post Falls Trojans defeated the Coeur d'Alene Vikings 30-32, 25-20, 25-23, 18-25, 15-6 in a 5A Inland Empire League match at The Arena.

Thursday's match was also the annual "Volleyball 4 the Cure" match, where the schools raised over $4,000 for the local Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, Hospice of North Idaho and the Patient Support Fund - with some funds also going to the McLeod family.

"It's always amazing when we come down to this time of year to see the community step forward to make this event happen," Post Falls coach Willow Hanna said. "Everyone knows someone that is affected by this. I'm always in awe of the community and how they step up with events like this."

As far as the match, Brenna Meehan had 43 assists, Brooke Litailen 20 digs and Danielle Failor eight digs for Post Falls (10-12, 1-3 5A IEL), which hosts a tri-match with Lakeland and Mt. Spokane on Saturday.

Kayla McGlathery had 25 kills and four aces, Megan Ramseyer 45 assists, four aces and 14 digs, Amy Norris 14 digs and Sydney Williams six blocks for Coeur d'Alene (10-7, 1-4), which travels to Moscow on Tuesday.

"Even though there's a winner and a loser, it's good PR for us," Hanna said. "Both teams battled back and forth. Every game was a battle and both teams worked hard tonight."

SPIRIT LAKE — Sydnie Malloy had 16 assists, three digs and four aces and Lexi Posch added seven kills and nine aces as the Tigers beat the Wildcats 28-26, 25-18, 25-15 in an Intermountain League match.

“I thought we played well,” Timberlake coach Michelle Garwood said. “We had times when we started playing tentatively, but we figured it out and played our game. Overall, I was pleased with the match.”

Jessica Norlander had seven kills, Jenna Hoffman five kills, four assists, three aces and three digs and Cheyenne Gibson five digs for Timberlake (8-8, 3-1 IML), which travels to Bonners Ferry on Tuesday.

McKenna Stewart had nine digs, Brittany Howard eight digs, Andee Wendt three kills and two blocks and Taylor Samuelson 13 assists for Kellogg (8-8, 1-4), which travels to St. Maries on Tuesday.

COEUR d’ALENE — Mariah Miller had 12 kills, Lyndsie Kiebert eight to lead the Wampus Cats (9-8) to a 25-20, 25-19, 25-23 sweep of the Panthers at Holy Family Catholic School.

No report was received from Coeur d’Alene Charter (2-7), which travels to St. Maries on Saturday for a pair of Central Idaho League matches vs. Grangeville and Orofino.

PLUMMER — Kami McKinnon had 14 kills, four assists and three blocks as the Tigers beat the Knights 25-8, 23-25, 20-25, 26-24, 15-12 in a North Star League match.

Ruth Haynes had 13 blocks, Brenna Piorzak 10 kills, Francine Hendrickx 20 digs, Avery Brown-Sonder 32 assists and Sierra Shamburg five aces for Lakeside (7-3, 5-3 NSL), which competes in a tri-match against Potlatch and Deary in Potlatch on Saturday.

“We came out very sluggish tonight,” Lakeside coach Jan Mitchell said. “It was a well-played match, but we came out on the wrong end. The girls played well after the first game and came together.”

Charli Sadler had 16 assists, Sydney Koenig seven kills and two blocks for league-leading Mullan (8-1, 6-1), which hosts Wallace on Tuesday at the Mullan Pavilion.

“We were a little scrappy tonight,” Mullan coach Dawn McKinnon said. “They’re a tough team.”

COEUR d’ALENE — Sarah Ployhar had 18 assists as the Royals beat the Eagles 25-11, 25-11, 25-13 in a Mountain Christian League match at Project CDA.

Liz Bookamer had seven aces and Ashlynn Batchelor 13 kills for North Idaho Christian (5-3, 4-2 MCL), which hosts The Oaks on Tuesday at Project CDA.
