Prescription turn-in events are Saturday

| September 27, 2012 9:00 PM

Residents are invited to turn in their unused or unwanted prescription drugs on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Police will be in front of the Coeur d'Alene Library, 702 E. Front Ave., and Post Falls City Hall, 408 N. Spokane St., to receive and destroy, no questions asked, outdated or unused medication.

By disposing of the items safely, it helps the environment because they won't be flushed into the wastewater system and poison aquatic life.

Only medications will be accepted. Do not bring syringes or biohazards.

Sharpies will be provided to mark out personal information on the prescription bottle.

For more information, call 769-2320 in Coeur d'Alene or 773-3517 in Post Falls.

A prescription drop box is available 24-7 at the Rathdrum police station. Medication can also be dropped off at the front desk of the Kootenai County Sheriff's Office Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
