SCHOOL: Senior photo policy poor

| September 23, 2012 9:00 PM

I’m a senior at Lake City High School, and was very excited to get my senior pictures done. This last summer the district decided to make a rule that senior pictures must be: only from the waist up, no vertical shots, no full-figure shots, head shots can only be 1 1/4 inch from the bottom of the chin to the top of the head, must only be the senior (no props, animals or other people), and no soft focus.

This is absolutely ridiculous. These senior pictures are our last farewell to our high school home. Why don’t they just use our ASB headshot pictures, and save us hundreds of dollars that our parents could be putting into our college funds?

In the senior section of the yearbooks you saw the kids who loved music with their instruments, you saw the jocks in their uniforms, you saw everyone how they have always wanted to be seen in high school.

I am confused on the fact why they even put these rules in to begin with. I mean the senior pictures aren’t disturbing anyone in the classroom. I am not the only one who feels this way. There is a page that some of my peers put together where the senior class can go and discuss things that are happening this year. MULTIPLE people are outraged.

Kootenai County, let our seniors be able to be seniors by letting us have the freedom to put our own CREATIVE pictures into our final yearbook.
