* VOLLEYBALL

IDAHO FALLS - Savannah Hill had 15 kills and Dani Failor had 14 kills and 10 blocks on Saturday as the Trojans went 1-2 in the 12-team championship bracket at the Bonneville-Hilcrest Classic.

Post Falls beat Rigby 25-19, 25-23 and lost to Fruitland 25-14, 25-23 and Skyline of Idaho Falls 25-21, 18-25, 15-11. The Trojans went 3-3 in the tournament.

"It was good to get out of town and play some other teams," Post Falls coach Willow Hanna said. "It's the first time we've been to southern Idaho for a tournament outside of state. It was a good chance to see some other teams that we wouldn't unless it was at state."

Century of Pocatello defeated Bonneville of Idaho Falls for the championship.

Brenna Meehan had 54 assists, Brooke Litalien 44 digs and Amy Booth four aces for Post Falls (9-12), which hosts Coeur d'Alene in the annual "Volleyball 4 the Cure" match on Thursday.

Lakeside, Clark Fork split in NSL matches

PLUMMER - In a rare doubleheader, Ruth Haynes had 10 kills and 15 blocks as the host Lakeside Knights won the first match 25-10, 25-12, 25-19 before the Clark Fork Wampus Cats bounced back to beat the Knights 25-18, 25-22, 25-12 in North Star League play.

"We just played, really, really well," Lakeside coach Jan Mitchell said.

Sierra Shamburg had 15 digs and Avery Brown-Sonder had 27 assists and six aces in the first match for Lakeside.

In the second match, Brenna Priozok had eight blocks and four kills, Brown-Sonder 12 assists and Kim Duncan 13 digs and Francine Hendrickx four aces in the loss for Lakeside (6-2, 5-2 NSL), which travels to Wallace on Tuesday.

Due to a scheduling mix-up earlier in the season, the teams agreed to play twice on Saturday instead of Lakeside having to travel to Clark Fork to make up the earlier match.

"We just got them done today," Mitchell said. "My girls just got tired and just didn't play well together in that second match. Clark Fork played well."

Clark Fork (6-8, 3-2) hosts Kootenai on Tuesday.

N.I. Christian wins one, loses one

Courtney Lawson had 11 aces and Sarah Ployhar eight assists as the Royals defeated Christian Heritage 25-21, 25-20, 25-14 in a Mountain Christian League match in Edwall, Wash.

Marah Lund had six kills and Ashlynn Batchelor seven digs for North Idaho Christian (4-2, 3-1 MCL), which travels to face the Kootenai Thunder at the Cocolalla Base Camp on Tuesday.

Earlier on Saturday, Ployhar had seven assists, Batchelor five aces, Lund six kills as the Royals lost at Country Christian 25-14, 25-16, 25-20 in a nonleague match at Pasco.
