 1)     Why are you running for office?

My desire to run for Idaho House of Representatives is to defend the same blessings of Freedom for my children and grandchildren that my wife and I have enjoyed in our lifetime.   The Constitution laid the foundation for government to protect and preserve our Liberty.  My goal is to steadfastly maintain those Constitutional Rights: Life, Liberty and Property.

 2)      What do you see as the three biggest issues?

There are many issues facing our nation that directly impact the people of Idaho.  Among the biggest are jobs and the economy — every man, woman and child owes over $16,000 due to our national debt.  Next, the education of our children—the “future guardians of the liberties of this country.”  Third, the preserving of our private property rights.

 3)    If elected, what steps will you take to resolve these issues?

Jobs & Economy---A  number of government created jobs form the bureaucracy that over regulates and destroys private business.  Government has the ability to create a favorable environment for the private sector to prosper and that is my goal---reducing “red-tape” and taxes.  It was the entrepreneurial spirit and the freedom to pursue it that made our nation great.

Education---America in the 20th Century became the leader in Math, Science and Creative Ingenuity.  But in spite of prosperity, America's educational ranking has dropped below some third world countries.   We would be wise to focus on the basics and advance from there in pursuing a standard of excellence and discipline in the class room for students and educators.

Property Rights---Sustainable Development is a United Nation scheme to take away private property rights.  The ability to process and utilize private property defines our freedom.  The Alabama legislature summed it up: “State of Alabama and all political subdivisions may not adopt or implement policy recommendations that deliberately or inadvertently infringe or restrict private property rights without due process…”        AMEN!

 4)     What specific skills or experience qualify you for this job?

I have worked in mining, logging and for 25 years been self-employed in construction.  I also helped develop the technology used in a successful line of pellet stoves.  I understand free market capitalism, the pitfalls of over-regulation and what it means to run a small business.  I believe these life skills will enable me to represent my district well.

 5)    Why should voters elect you rather than your opponent?

I, Ron Mendive will be a strong conservative voice in the Idaho House of Representatives.  Since 1955 I have lived and worked here and I value our Idaho way of life.  I have been endorsed by Idaho Chooses Life, North Idaho Building Contractors Association and received NRA's  “A” rating.  I will Defend the Constitution and Family Values.
