SELECT SOCCER

Coeur d'Alene Sting boys under-11 (Ajax): The Sting tied the Cheney Storm 1-1 in their first match of the season. Bennet Cunningham scored on a header for the Sting, assisted by Denton Meijerink.

Sting U11 girls Sounders: The Sting went 0-2-1 at the recent Pend Oreille Cup in Sandpoint.

The Sting tied the Sandpoint Strikers 1-1 on a goal by Geneva Bengtson. The Sting lost 1-0 to the Cobra Shooting Stars. The Sting then lost 3-1 to the eventual champion Spokane Foxes. Jaizee Cessna scored for the Sting.

Sting U9 boys (United): The Sting beat the Sting Sounders 5-1 last Saturday. Cooper Prohaska scored two goals, Noah Janzen, Gabe Novak and Miles Jones one each. AJ Brendis and Tate Novak teamed for the win in goal.

Sting U14 boys: The Sting improved to 4-0 with two more wins last weekend in the fall Puget Sound Classic league. On Saturday, the Sting traveled to Snoqualmie and defeated Cascade FC 1-0 when Caleb Kraut scored on an assist from Kade Martinelli in the last two minutes of the match.

On Sunday, the Sting traveled to University Place and shut out the UPSC Vikings 1-0 as Kyle Duplessis scored on an assist from Brayden Lanphere.

Tyler Rieken had four saves on the weekend.

Sting U11 girls: The Sting beat the SSC Shadow from Spokane 9-0 on Saturday. Jaizee Cessna, Geneva Bengston, and Julianna Stith scored two goals each, and Emma Ramage and Kate Gatten each scored once.

Sting U13 boys (Trapp): The Sting beat Moscow United 3-2 on Saturday. Colvin Dunteman, Gregory Deverna, and Alex Garcia each scored once in the win.

Sting U9 girls Galaxy: The Sting opened Saturday with a 4-1 loss to the Moscow (Vierling) U10 team. Ellie Morrisroe scored the lone goal for the Sting.

Sting U13 girls (Tottenham): The Sting opened play in the PSPL Inland Northwest COPA Division with a 3-1 win over Spokane Foxes FC '99 Black.

Kimber Burgin, Anna Hilbert and Megan Drake all scored for the Sting, and Payton Barber and Haley Gordon each had assists.

Idaho Thunder U10 boys (Sater): The Thunder beat the ASE B03 Erickson 8-0 in the Tri Cities last Saturday. Devin Claflin had a hat trick, Aiden Juntilla added two goals, and Braden Ferreira, Ethan Lawson and Cody Carvajal each scored once.

Thunder U11 boys (Halseth): The Thunder lost to the Spokane Shadow last Saturday. Jalen Skalskiy scored the lone goal for the Thunder.

Thunder U13B (Gelnette/McLuskie): The Thunder went 2-0-1 last weekend.

The Thunder beat the Wenatchee Fire B99 White Wisen 8-0. Braden Claflin, Caleb McLuskie and Zack Nall each scored twice for the Thunder, and Robber Butterfield and Isiah Higbee both scored once. Zack Nall and Isaiah Higbee teamed for the shutout in goal.

Thunder U10 girls (Moate): The Thunder beat ASE of Tri Cities 4-1. Kaylee Moate had a hat trick and Bella Lawson added a goal in the win.

Thunder U14 girls (Foster/VanL): The Thunder lost 3-2 to the Sting Roma on Saturday. Thunder goals were by Taylor Hammond and Makena Pooley off a corner kick. The Sting won it with a penalty kick late in the game.

JUNIOR TACKLE

The Coeur d'Alene Packers defeated the Silver Valley Storm in sixth-grade play. Zane Lettau scored three touchdowns for the Packers, and Kaden Kirking scored on an interception return.

The Bucs defeated the Saints 24-12 in a fifth-grade game. Ezra Grigg scored on touchdown runs of 60, 55 and 17 yards for the Bucs and totaled 190 yards. Logan Jeanselme scored on a 4-yard run in the fourth quarter to seal the win. Patrick LaSarte had 11 tackles and recovered a fumble, and Dylan Virgil had eight tackles.

The Rams beat a team from Richland, Wash., in eighth-grade play last weekend. Matt Duchow threw four touchdown passes - two to Brody Lundblad, one to Willie Goodwin and one to Alex Henderson. Lundblad also scored another rushing touchdown and kicked a 20 yard field goal. The defense was led by Henderson's interception and fumble recovery.

The Seahawks defeated the Raiders 24-18 in fifth-grade junior tackle play.

The Raiders scored first on a touchdown by Hayden Scoffield, set up by a fumble recovery by Harry Stafford. Jake Brown scored on an 80-yard run for the Raiders in the second quarter. Thomas Kladar recovered a fumble in the fourth quarter, but the Raiders were unable to turn it into the tying score.

AAU BASKETBALL

Rebels tryouts: The Running Rebels AAU basketball club will be hosting a tryout for its fifth- and sixth-grade boys basketball teams at Mullan Trail Elementary in Post Falls. Tryouts are tonight and Thursday from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m.

JV SOCCER

Coeur d'Alene defeated Moscow 4-1 at home on Sept. 12. Kenny Brown tied the game for Coeur d'Alene in the 17th minute on an assist from Andrew Nicklay. Brown and Nicklay teamed up again in the 51st minute to give the Vikings the lead. Nicklay scored in the 71st minute on an assist from Lane Thompson. Thompson finished off thescoring on a penalty kick in the 78th minute.

Coeur d'Alene lost 3-0 at Lake City on Friday. Garrett Flolo scored off of a corner kick for the first score. Kade Murphree added a penalty kick in the 46th minute, and Colton Gednalske rounded out the scoring on an unassisted goal in the 50th minute.

Indoor swim lesson signups: Registration will begin Monday for the next session of indoor swim lessons sponsored by the Coeur d'Alene Recreation Department and held at the McGrane Center.

Classes are offered for 3-year-olds and above and all levels are available. Classes are held on Monday or Wednesday evenings for 6 weeks starting the week of Oct. 1.
