ATHEISTS: Their right is U.S. might

| September 5, 2012 9:24 PM

In response to the buzz over the atheist billboards, as a certain philosopher once stated, “I may not agree with what you say, but I will fight to the death to preserve your right to say it.”

Our country was founded on principles of freedom from religion, which entails the freedom to practice religion (or atheism) without fear of official persecution.

Could you imagine the uproar if our government had the power to establish Islam or Hinduism as our state religion, excluding the practice of all alternatives?

Therefore, it is essential that Christians, Jews, Atheists, etc. be allowed to hold their own beliefs in an independent and nonviolent manner. Therefore, by supporting the rights of atheists and other religious persons, I am also allowing myself the freedom to believe in God as I please.
