Connie Schmidt, 72

Connie Schmidt, 72, passed away Oct. 28, 2012, in Coeur d’Alene. She was born March 30, 2012, in Hayden Lake to Michael (born in Monago, N.D.) and Leah Schmidt (born in Harried, S.D).

Connie graduated from Rathdrum High School in 1958. She moved to Sacramento, Calif., and worked as an insurance adjuster for four years, before moving back to Rathdrum. She attended Spokane Community College and earned her bachelor’s degree in nursing. She was employed at Kootenai Medical Center and Life Care Center until she retired. She loved to golf and was an avid bowler. She also enjoyed working in the many flower gardens around her home. She loved going out to eat with family and friends. She was a member of the Church of God Seventh Day.

Connie is survived by three sisters, Dolores Welch, Sandy Schmidt and Debbie Morehead, all of Post Falls; and one brother, Jimmy (Diane) Schmidt of Spokane; two nieces, Robin Ley and Sally Genzoli, who considered her their second mom; plus many other nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and friends who loved her dearly.

Connie was proceeded in death by her father and mother, Mike and Leah Schmidt; and a nephew, Dwayne Ley.

A memorial service will be held for Connie at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 11, 2012, at the Senior Center in Rathdrum. All who knew her are welcome to come. English Funeral Chapel, Post Falls, is in care of the arrangements.
