| October 28, 2012 9:00 PM

De'Leon Eskridge was a workhorse for the Spartans on Saturday, recording 25 carries for a career-high 134 yards, scoring his only touchdown of the afternoon on a 32-yard run with 5:23 remaining to put host San Jose State up for good in a 31-20 win over Texas State.

San Jose State (6-2, 2-1 Western Athletic Conference) was up 24-20 before Eskridge gave them some breathing room over a pesky Texas State (3-4, 1-1) squad. Spartans quarterback David Fales was 26 of 38 for 376 and two touchdowns. The 571 total yards for the Spartans offense was a season high.

Texas State led 20-17 heading into halftime before Fales found David Freeman on a 78-yard touchdown strike on their second possession of the third quarter to put San Jose State up 24-20.

San Jose State plays at Idaho next Saturday.

No. 24 Louisiana Tech 28, New Mexico State 14: At Las Cruces, N.M., Colby Cameron led a late-surging Louisiana Tech offense, throwing for 292 yards and running for a score as the Bulldogs (7-1, 2-0 WAC) beat New Mexico State.

Three turnovers prevented New Mexico State (1-7, 0-4) from taking advantage of three Louisiana Tech missed field goals and a flat running game that didn't get started until late in the third quarter.

Utah State 48, UTSA 17: At San Antonio, Chuckie Keeton threw three touchdowns to lead Utah State past Texas-San Antonio (5-3, 1-2).

Keeton was 27 of 36 for 340 yards. Utah State (7-2, 3-0 WAC) was the first to score with a 2-yard pass from Keeton to Kellen Bartlett. Keeton later threw a 29-yard pass to Cameron Webb and a 16-yard pass to Joe Hill for touchdowns.

Utah State is off to its best start since 1978.
