Cardinals open with road victory
HAVRE, Mont. - North Idaho College's Brock Banta won by pin at 125 pounds in the opening match of the night to spark the Cardinals in a 25-18 season-opening victory over Montana State University-Northern on Friday night.
"The wrestled OK for the first time out, but pleased to come up here and get the win," NIC coach Pat Whitcomb said. "There are some things to fix, but the young guys wrestled well, we will take a win and move on from there."
The Cardinals, who recorded wins in the first five matches of the night (one by forfeit), received a 12-0 major decision victory from Jeremy Golding at 149 in the fourth match of the night.
NIC wrestles at the University of Great Falls (Mont.) today.
