Meeting planned for Beaver Creek Project

| October 25, 2012 9:00 PM

COEUR d'ALENE - The Forest Service will hold an open house on Oct. 30 to discuss the proposed Beaver Creek Project on the Coeur d'Alene River Ranger District.

Proposed management activities in the Beaver Creek Resource Area include restoring water quality and improving aquatic habitats, establishing healthy and resilient forests, and reducing risk of catastrophic wildland fire.

This meeting is the first opportunity for the public to provide input that will be used in the development of the project.

The 28,200-acre Beaver Creek Resource Area encompasses National Forest System lands managed by the Coeur d'Alene River Ranger District, and is entirely within Shoshone County.

Activities are proposed in the drainages of White Creek, Carpenter Gulch, Rock Gulch, Missouri Gulch, Scott Gulch, Alder Creek, Kid Gulch, Deer Creek, Moore Gulch, Dudley Creek, Ferguson Creek, Carbon Creek, Unknown Gulch, Pony Gulch, Cleveland Gulch and Potosi Gulch.

All of these waterways drain into Beaver Creek, and then into the Coeur d'Alene River and Lake Coeur d'Alene.

The meeting will be at the Prichard-Murray Volunteer Fire Department, 21109 Coeur d'Alene River Road, Wallace.

Folks can drop in between 5-7 p.m. to review maps and other displays and chat with project officials.
