Cross country state tournaments at a glance

Race 1 - 3A girls, 11 a.m. Race 2 - 4A girls, 11:30. Race 3 - 3A boys, noon. Race 4 - 4A boys, 12:30 p.m. Race 5 - 5A girls, 1. Race 6 - 2A girls, 1:30. Race 7 - 5A boys, 2. Race 8 - 2A boys, 2:30.

5A boys - Coeur d'Alene is defending champion. Jake Finney and Kyler Little finished first and second, respectively, for Lake City, which defeated Coeur d'Alene by four points for the Region 1 team title last Thursday at Hells Gate State Park. Sean Kelly qualified individually for Post Falls.

5A girls - Boise is defending champion. Emily Hamlin of Boise won the girls race in 18 minutes, 36.10 as a freshman last year in Eagle. Pershia Anderson of Post Falls and Leanne Asper of Lake City also qualified.

4A boys - Pocatello is defending champion. Elijah Armstrong of Pocatello won the boys race in 15:55.27 as a freshman last year. Sandpoint's Sam Levora finished fifth.

4A girls - Bishop Kelly has won the last three state championships.

3A boys - Teton has won the last two boys championships. James Whiters of Snake River won the boys race as a junior in 16:41.37. Bonners Ferry won the District 1 championship, with Timberlake finishing second last week in Pinehurst.

3A girls - Timberlake has won the previous three state championships, but lost two runners to graduation and another who opted to play soccer. The Tigers won the district championship, with Priest River finishing second.

2A boys - Soda Springs has won two of the last three state championships. Leif Fredericks, a junior at Coeur d'Alene Charter, finished fourth in 17:01.40 last year to lead the Panthers to a third-place finish.

2A girls - Soda Springs has won six straight championships. Rachel Youren of Gooding won the girls race in 19:28.05 last year as a sophomore.

Lewiston last hosted the state meet at Hells Gate in 2006.
