SURVIVOR: An amazing story
I could not put down the paper as I read “Survivor” by Bill Buley. This article should be read to every high school student and talked about in every family. Aino Kikkas has truly experienced more than most people could survive. Her relationship with Victoria is a relationship Victoria will treasure forever.
To just meet a person who has lived this story would be an honor. The story brought tears to my eyes and once again, made me appreciate our wonderful country. To think that on several occasions, sheer terror was her only companion.
Someone once told me that to know great joy, you must know great sorrow. My hope is that Aino has been given a happy and joyful life surrounded by those who truly appreciate her journey.
I am choosing to keep a copy of her story as I never want to forget how hard the fight was for those innocent citizens who were searched for, imprisoned and man, killed by a ruthless regime.
Thank you, Mr. Buley, for writing a story that had me engaged from beginning to end of this amazing saga of survival. And I’m so happy, Aino, that you are here to tell the story. I will never forget.
