THANKS: Veteran returns compliment

| October 20, 2012 9:15 PM

My name is Dr. John Ivy. Recently I attended an event at the Post Falls VFW, which was an awards ceremony presenting Buck Knives to recipients of the Purple Heart and at which one of your reporters, Bill Buley, was present to cover the event.

I should wish to extend my gratitude for the efforts of the Coeur d’Alene Press, and its staff, to cover events related to local area veterans and to make acknowledgement of their services to our country and the sacrifices that many have made in the line of duty.

Being a Vietnam-era combat veteran, to receive acknowledgement for the services that we performed for our country, even at this late date, is gratefully appreciated.

When those, such as myself, returned from service in Vietnam, we didn’t ask for much, BUT, a heartfelt “Thank you” at the time would have been greatly appreciated.

The event at the Post Falls VFW, hosted by Graham Crutchfield, made up, in part, for the “slight” so many decades before.

Once again, may I extend my appreciation for your support for local veterans organizations.

DR. JOHN IVY, A.M.I.
