Jerry D. Phelps, passed away at 69 years old on Oct. 5, 2012, surrendering to the affects of a debilitating stroke. He was born in Oklahoma to Paul and Melba Hughes in 1943.

He married young and over several years had three children in the southeast. He was a talented self-taught musician favoring jazz and country music. He played sax, guitar and sang professionally in clubs across the country. Once he saw Coeur d’Alene in 1991 he never wanted to leave.

Idaho is where he found the love of his life and forever companion Priscilla Blumenstock and settled in Dalton Gardens. They laughed and enjoyed nature on many great camping trips. Besides a great sense of humor Jerry was also a talented writer. He became a Toastmaster and in 1993 he won the area Tall Tales Contest.

Though he continued to play music, it became more of a hobby. Computer technology became his is new passion. He took great pride in his work at Agency Software in Hayden, and looked forward to working with his dear friend Mitch McInelly every day.

Jerry will be sorely missed by his love and devoted caregiver, Priscilla Blumenstock and her family. He is survived by his children and brother Paul Hughes Jr. of Oklahoma.
