Helewka provides punch

SPOKANE - Adam Helewka found the net in both of the last two periods and the Spokane Chiefs came back to beat the Seattle Thunderbirds 2-1 on Friday night before 4,813 at the Spokane Arena.

Riley Whittingham and Connor Chartier had assists on Helewka's first goal, and Cole Wedman and Mitch Holmberg fed him on the game-winner.

Eric Williams saved 14 of 15 shots for the Chiefs (7-3-0-0 14 points), one point back of second-place Portland in the U.S. Division.

Spokane, 5-0 on home ice, hosts Prince George tonight at 7.
