Steve Meyer, a partner in the Parkwood Business Properties real estate development firm in Coeur d'Alene, is among the Idaho Smart Growth winners for 2012.

Meyer, former chairman of the Kootenai County Planning Commission who now serves on the Hayden Lake Urban Renewal Agency, won the Charles Hummel Award.

The award recognizes leaders exemplary in dedication to and implementation of Smart Growth principles, reflecting a respect for place as well as for design and function. This will be the third year the award has been given.

Meyer is also a partner in the Jefferson Building and Crescent Rim developments in Boise, both Smart Growth award recipients.

The awards reception will be Nov. 8 in Boise.

Idaho Smart Growth is an organization that encourages a range of housing opportunities, a sense of place, mixed-use communities, open space and placing jobs and schools close to people who need them with developments.
