Forest Service officials will be on hand later this month to discuss a proposed 28,000-acre forest health plan.
The area stretches from the Beaver Creek drainage over King Hill to the Prichard Creek drainage area.
Everyone agrees the area has catastrophic fire potential, said Shoshone County Commissioner Vince Rinaldi.
"We've got dead and dying timber, root rot, beetle kill" and other issues, Rinaldi said. "It's a project that needs to be done."
The Forest Service sent out letters and maps to about 300 landowners, mining claim owners and others explaining the project. The publicmeeting will be at the Prichard-Murray Firehouse from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 30.
