Montana grizzly bear incidents investigated
Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks is investigating several recent grizzly bear incidents in Northwest Montana.
Warden Captain Lee Anderson said the remains of a female grizzly were found last week near Brosten Lane east of Kalispell. He said Fish, Wildlife and Parks is seeking any information related to the bear's death.
In a separate case, a man shot and killed a male grizzly bear in his chicken coop outside his home Sunday near Ferndale.
In another incident, a man shot and killed a female grizzly that was next to a chicken coop on his property last week north of Columbia Falls.
All those cases are under investigation.
On Oct. 7, a bird hunter shot at a female grizzly bear in what was described as a surprise encounter near Bigfork. The hunter was unharmed and he reported the incident immediately.
The grizzly had a cub and both were later found alive, and the female did not appear to have life-threatening injuries.
