PLANNING: No room for bullies

Our Building and Planning Department under Mr. Scott Clark is no longer an agency of help, safety and accuracy. Instead it has become an agency of bullying, false information, cronyism, intimidation and aggression.

Recently having had to resort to an attorney in order to stop the bullying and intimidation tactics, a deal was reached with an attorney for the building department and my own attorney. Two violations were filed against me, both with the same legal designation but were claimed by the department as separate issues. Even the department’s own attorney found the violations to be without merit and asinine.

The violations involved filling a man-made pond. The pond was dry due to a neighbor having bulldozed the water source. Filling it back in did not exceed the exemptions of a site disturbance. We reached an agreement, which was signed.

Last Friday despite this agreement, Mr. Clark went to the recorder’s office and recorded the original two violations. Was he utilizing cronyism for my neighbor, or was he just upset that a property owner could fight back, and wouldn’t take his intimidation and bully tactics? I sent my wife down to ask for a copy of the site disturbance exemptions last week. She was told there were no exemptions. She had three different employees tell her no such exemptions existed. When she told them my attorney had a copy, they asked her name then went into a huddle and provided a copy. Mr. Clark is not the man for the job.
