Radical, man
Making its debut appearance in Coeur d'Alene, Radical Reels - the high action, adrenaline packed films that are an off shoot of the Banff Mountain Film Festival - will be shown at the Kroc Center on Wednesday.
Now in its ninth year, the Radical Reels Tour continues to push the boundaries with nail-biting speed climbing, stomach turning kayaking drops and epic big mountain ski and snowboard descents. This year 11 films will be shown such as "Concrete Dreams," where skateboarding is taken to a new level - on the Bobtrack courses in Europe, along with "Frontier" where we follow a group of kayakers on a global adventure from Mexico to Iceland. Others include the excellent release of "Reel Rock: Race for the Nose," an edge of seat, speed climbing flick which picked up the "Radical Reels People's Choice Award."
Or the humorous film "Narsicame" which takes a candid look at the new rage of "Look at me - and my headcam!" Added to the list is also "Miller's Thriller: Ski BASE" where all you need is a parachute, skis and a very big jump.
Held annually each fall from the end of October into early November, the Banff Mountain Film Festival has included the Radical Reels night, which is a special screening of the wildest high adrenaline films entered in the Banff Mountain Film Festival.
So many action films were being submitted to the film festival that they could not fit into the regular screenings, resulting in the creation of the hugely successful Radical Reels evening presentation and road tour.
In addition, the 2012 photo tour from the Banff Mountain Film Festival will also be set up for the public to view.
Doors will open at 5, with films beginning at 6. A portion of the proceeds from the event will go to fund Kroc Center programs. Tickets are $13 in advance and $15 at the door.
Tickets are in Coeur d'Alene at Vertical Earth, The Camera Corral and Zip's located on Sherman Avenue in Coeur d'Alene. In Hayden tickets are available at the Two Wheeler Dealer. Any tickets left will be sold at the door of the Kroc Center the night of the show.
