Weather station sensors reported stolen by ITD

Two sensors valued at $14,000 were reported stolen from a weather station owned by the Idaho Transportation Department.

According to a Kootenai County Sheriff's Department report, someone cut through a fence at 28910 N. Highway 41, milepost 16, near Spirit Lake sometime between Oct. 1 and Oct. 4.

Once inside, the station, they took a Vaisala surface condition sensor valued at $11,000, and a Vaisala surface temperature sensor valued at $3,000.

The theft was discovered Oct. 5 when an independent contractor for ITD checked on the weather station.
