Post Falls sweeps dual in Sandpoint

SANDPOINT - Magdalena deTar and Suzanne deTar had two wins each for the Post Falls Trojans in a 64-56 win over the Sandpoint Bulldogs in a swimming dual Wednesday at the Sandpoint West Athletic Club.

Magdalena deTar won the 200-yard individual medley in 2 minutes and 34.94 seconds and the 100 backstroke in 1:13.38, while Suzanne deTar captured the 200 freestyle in 2:23.24 and 400 freestyle in 5:02.67.

Evan Barton won the 200-individual medley in 2:58 and the 400 freestyle in 5:57.45 for the Post Falls boys, which defeated Sandpoint 74-27.

Post Falls competes with Lake City and Coeur d'Alene on Friday at the Kroc Center.

CHATTAROY, Wash. - Lexi Posch had 10 kills and two aces as the Tigers defeated the Rams 25-19, 25-18, 25-23 in a nonleague match.

"I thought we played much better than last night," said Timberlake coach Michelle Garwood, whose Tigers fell to St. Maries in three games on Tuesday. "We played much tougher and it was much better than last night for sure."

Shea Dretke had five kills and one block, Sydnie Malloy 17 assists and Cheyenne Gibson two kills, two blocks and three aces for Timberlake (15-11), which travels to Lakeland on Friday.

Earlier Wednesday, a coin-flip was held to determine seeding for next week's 3A District 1 tournament, with Priest River the No. 1 seed and Timberlake the No. 2. Kellogg, also by way of a flip, is the No. 3 seed and Bonners Ferry seeded No. 4 for the tournament starting Tuesday at Lakeland High.
