COEUR d'ALENE - A ground-breaking was recently held in the Riverstone development for the new clinic/surgery center for Pain Management of North Idaho owned by Dr. Scott Magnuson.

The single-level, 6,670-square-foot wood frame facility includes offices, clinic space, an ambulatory surgery center with two procedure rooms, recovery rooms and support spaces.

The design is a combination of "northwest vernacular," using gable roof forms, stone masonry and heavy timbers along with modern flat roof accents at the four corners of the building incorporating cement board siding and steel sun control awnings to provide contrast.

"This blend of traditional and contemporary aligns with the design guidelines for the Riverstone development, while making its own unique statement," said a press release.

The major gable roof form is extended outside the building perimeter to provide a covered entry and vehicle drop-off point. Extensive landscape has been incorporated on the site to make a cohesive design that blends well with the surrounding architecture.

Magnuson is a graduate of Creighton University School of Medicine.

Pain Management of North Idaho, which has 11 staff members, was established in 2001 to provide medical and interventional pain management and multidisciplinary care coordination to chronic pain patients.

North Idaho Pain Center was established in 2005 as an ambulatory surgery center for Magnuson to perform more invasive procedures.

Both will be housed in the new location.

Pain Management of North Idaho is currently located in Kootenai Health, above MRI and the Heart Center.

The project builder is Polin & Young, the architect, Dale Hickman and h2a Architects, the broker Brad Baldwin with Baldwin Corporate Real Estate, and the lender, US Bank.
