SEATTLE - Anna Valentine scored on an assist from Callie Martin in the 55th minute as North Idaho College defeated the Seattle U club team 1-0 on Saturday.
"The goal was set up by a good buildup from our backs," NIC coach Dan Hogan said. "The ball was played to Martin just in the attacking half of the field. Martin beat a Seattle U player and slipped a pass to Valentine, who was even with the right post and Valentine hit a right-footed shot which beat the keeper just inside the left post."
With a forfeit by Edmonds Community College on Friday, NIC improves to 8-3-1, making the Cardinals eligible for the district tournament in Cheyenne, Wyo., in November. NIC hosts the Idaho club team next Saturday at noon.
First half - none. Second half - 1, NIC, Anna Valentine (Callie Martin), 55:00.
