PREP VOLLEYBALL: Post Falls rallies, but comes up short in Lewiston

LEWISTON - Danielle Failor had eight kills and two blocks for the Post Falls Trojans in a 25-18, 25-20, 25-19 5A Inland Empire League volleyball loss to the Lewiston Bengals on Tuesday night at Booth Hall.

Brenna Meehan had 22 assists and Brooke Litalien had 15 digs for Post Falls (11-14, 1-5 5A IEL), which hosts Lake City on Thursday.

"We kind of turned it on at the end," Post Falls coach Willow Hanna said. "But it was too little, too late. (Danielle) Failor had a good game and they had trouble blocking her when we got her the ball in the middle and we blocked well tonight."

Lewiston (18-2, 5-1) clinched at least a tie for the league title.

Morgan Marshall and Natalie Sarff had two blocks and Savannah Hill three aces for Post Falls.

Lake City d. Sandpoint

COEUR d'ALENE - Brittany Gay totaled 44 assists, nine digs and three aces as the Timberwolves defeated the Bulldogs 25-19, 26-24, 16-25, 25-21 in nonleague play.

Kylie Curtis had 23 kills, Madi Farrell 10, Haile Watson eight and Natalie Taylor six for Lake City (13-3). Brenna Condon added seven digs.

Sandpoint drops to 11-6.

Lake City plays at Post Falls on Thursday.

Moscow d. Lakeland

MOSCOW - Kaidan Kelsey had 11 kills and two blocks as the Hawks fell to the Bears in four games in a 4A Inland Empire League match at Bear Den.

Scores were unavailable.

"They played really well," Lakeland coach Kylee Garitone said. "It was a tight match all the way through. We missed some serves, and that hurt us, but it was a good improvement from when we played them the last time."

Kelly Ramus had five kills and three blocks and Erin Ogden had 16 digs for Lakeland (2-16, 0-3 4A IEL), which competes in the Crossover Classic on Friday and Saturday at Lewis and Clark High in Spokane.

Moscow is 1-3 in league.

Timberlake d. Bonners Ferry

BONNERS FERRY - Jenna Hoffman had seven kills, six assists and two aces as the Tigers beat the Badgers 25-13, 25-23, 25-17 in an Intermountain League match.

"I thought we had a great serving night," Timberlake coach Michelle Garwood said. "(Cheyenne) Gibson gave us a big lead with her serves. Everyone served really good and Jessica Norlander had five blocks. Those little things like that really help."

Sydnie Malloy had 16 assists and four aces, Gibson six kills and five aces and Norlander six kills for Timberlake (9-8, 4-1 IML), which competes in a tri-match against Orofino and Priest River at Priest River on Thursday.

Bonners Ferry is 1-5 in league.

St. Maries d. Kellogg

ST. MARIES - Mariah Gladden had 14 kills, seven digs and four blocks as the Lumberjacks beat the Wildcats 25-22, 25-21, 22-25, 25-21 in a nonleague match.

"I thought our defense played well for us tonight," St. Maries coach Missy Asbury said. "Our back row of Maddy McQueen and Clarissa Stephenson played well. We had some new players in there tonight that seemed lost at times, but they picked it up and played well."

Lakin Anxo had eight kills, Kylee Glidden five blocks, McQueen 14 digs and Kathy Epler 34 assists for St. Maries (10-9), which hosts Coeur d'Alene Charter in a Central Idaho League match on Thursday.

Amber Eixenberger had seven kills, three aces and three blocks, Tarah Ivie five kills, Aleasha Barr eight digs and Andee Wendt seven blocks for Kellogg (8-9).

Kootenai d. Cd’A Charter

COEUR d’ALENE — Brie Benson had 10 kills and Ellison Schultz added 19 assists as the visiting Warriors (3-9) defeated the Panthers 25-17, 19-25, 25-20, 12-25, 15-12 in nonleague play at Holy Family Catholic School.

Lexi Young totaled 20 assists and 15 aces for Coeur d’Alene Charter (2-10). Emma Henderson had nine kills and three blocks and Mikyah Ferguson had 12 digs.

Cd’A Charter travels to St. Maries on Thursday. Kootenai’s scheduled match at Mullan on Thursday has been rescheduled for Oct. 11.

The Oaks d. N.I. Christian

COEUR d’ALENE — Ashlynn Batchelor had 14 kills and four aces as the Royals lost to The Oaks 25-19, 25-23, 25-20 in a Mountain Christian League match at Project CDA.

Courtney Lawson had 18 assists and 11 digs for North Idaho Christian (5-3, 4-3 MCL), which hosts Grace Bible on Thursday at Project CDA.

The Oaks improves to 6-0 in league play.
