LCHS grad receives three scholarships

Morgan Aguilar, a 2009 Lake City High School graduate and a senior at the University of Colorado in Boulder, was awarded three scholarships at a recent awards banquet on campus.

She is a two-time recipient of the $10,000 William S. Hemingway Scholarship awarded to a journalism and mass communications major for outstanding academic achievement and professional potential.

She also received the Brian Hostetler Memorial and Alvin G. Flanagan & Walker Family Scholarships.

Aguilar is a broadcast journalism major and women's studies minor. She was recently selected for a spring semester internship at News9 in Denver and will graduate in May 2013.

Post Falls woman says man stole her purse

A Post Falls woman told police a man took her purse Sunday night.

According to a press release, the 34-year-old was walking in the 200 block of north Fourth Street in Coeur d'Alene about 11 p.m. when three men wearing black hooded sweatshirts walked past.

One grabbed her purse off her arm, the release said. The men ran north on Fourth Street.

The suspects were described as under the height of 5-feet 10-inches, and average build. One was riding a skateboard.
