| May 12, 2012 9:00 PM

Edith Darlene LaRue (Mom, Grandma and Edie) as she was known by family and friends passed away May 2, 2012, in Coeur d’Alene at 77 from cancer. She was born May 24, 1934, in Hale, Mich., the only daughter of Gordon and Ida French.

Edith grew up on a farm with three brothers Robert, Carlos and Gary. She played piano, basketball in her youth and graduated valedictorian from Hale High School. Edie married Ralph Anson LaRue in 1956 and they soon moved to Northern California, spending the majority of their lives together with son Cory in Orangevale, Calif.

Besides being a homemaker she was a Legal Secretary, Board and Care Home Owner and a Book Keeper for a nonorofit organization benefiting the Developmentally Disabled.

In her later years she loved playing bingo at Mayhew in Sacramento, Calif., and then at the Coeur d’Alene Casino Resort after moving to Hayden Lake in 2000 to live with her son and family. She formed many special friendships over the years with her bingo buddies. Edie was a great cook, and loved to care and dote over her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be remembered for her kind heart, sense of humor, her laugh and larger than life sneezes.

Edie was preceded in death by her parents, Gordon and Ida; husband Ralph; and two of her brothers, Robert and Carlos.

She will forever be missed and remembered by those she is survived by, brother Gary and his wife Sue French; son Cory and his wife Karen; grandson Josh and his wife Dia; granddaughter Chelsey and her husband Wes; and her three great-grandchildren, Zoey, Emerson and Fisher in addition to countless other family and friends who were all truly blessed to have known her.

There will not be a funeral service. Please go to her online memorial to view and sign her guest book at www.yatesfuneralhomes.com.
