RECALL: What's it really about?

| May 9, 2012 10:00 PM

What’s this whole thing really about? It’s not about Republicans or Democrats. It’s not about us being poor losers and it’s not about the same old group that’s against everything that’s brought forth.

McEuen Field is an issue but it’s not even really about that. Some of us feel that the real problem is that our city government does not realize that they are elected to manage our city’s business, not take on multi-million, nice-to-do projects without the blessing of the taxpayers. They were not elected to do their own will without the approval of the local taxpayers. It should not be a government of the elect, by the elect or for the elect to go toward any extent they wish to travel. We have been told that this project won’t cost us anything, directly or indirectly. If you believe this then you will also believe that our property taxes are going to drop in this down economy. It used to be that way, but not this time.

Especially in this economy our money should be used for the needs of our community and its infrastructure.

These kinds of management practices need to stop NOW! Hence the recall movement. Our city government has denied its citizens our constitutional right to a vote on an issue that will, at some point, cost each of us in tax dollars.
