Apps for balancing

Balancing your life at times seems like such a challenge. There are so many things that are required of us that we have to constantly be adjusting our priorities all the time. We have our family, our health, our relationships and our professions. Something always gets shuffled around. What gives for you each day?

Just this week one of my patients said to me that she did so much better with her health priorities when she tracked them. I had given her an exercise sheet for tracking and she said when she began using it and saw her progress she became more inclined to do her program on a daily basis. Well after she mentioned this to me I got thinking. What other tools are out there that would help us keep our priorities for our health where they should be? Maybe technology can help.

Apps just happen to be one of those things that might help us keep in loop when it comes to balancing our health. There are a lot of fitness apps out there. Some are free and some are not. You have to sift through them, but here are a few shared with me the other night at dinner. They are all free and would be a great way for you to get started at managing your health right in the palm of your hand or with a quick turn on of your computer. You can track your progress and keep a tally of your progression to your goals. I know it sounds strange for many of us who are older, but take a chance. You are never to old to do something new, especially when your health needs to be balanced.

Apps for fitness:

• My Fitness Pal

• Nike Training Workouts

• Couch to 5K - great one to get you off the couch and running again... it literally walks you right through it.
