| March 23, 2012 9:00 PM

Norway's 1999 champion accordion player will be performing in North Idaho for the first time next month.

Knut Erik Jensen will play 2:30 p.m. Sunday, April 1 at First Presbyterian Church, 521 E. Lakeside Ave.

"The Knut Experience" also includes piano interpretations of both Grieg and Gershwin and a tenor solo.

The 31-year-old has performed more than 90 solo concerts in 18 states since 2007. He has also composed, arranged and conducted music for two accordion orchestras. He is serving as music director of the International Opera Institute of California and works as an accompanist and vocal coach.

Jensen's Coeur d'Alene appearance is sponsored by the local Sons of Norway lodge, which celebrated its Centennial in 2010 and the same year hosted the first Sons of Norway International Convention in Idaho.

Jensen will share the music and culture of Norway and also present tunes from other composers. Norwegian refreshments will be served.

Tickets will be sold at the door. They are $10 for adults, $5 for children under 12 or any person with school identification.
