Report and a message from the chief

The Post Falls Police Department released its annual report for 2011 on Monday. We've provided a copy of the report for you to download. 

Dear Community Partner:

I am pleased to present the 2011 Post Falls Police Department's Annual Report. The pages that follow will spotlight some of the outstanding work our team has accomplished this past year. The report will also provided an overview of the various specialized units and the staff that make up this great organization.

As we look back on 2011, this year was without a doubt one of the most challenging years we have faced. Working in one of the most challenging economic periods, we continue to accomplish our policing mission and meet our goals. Clearly, our efforts to stay focused on fighting crime and the hard work and dedication of our employees continues to pay off. This year we handled 24,423 calls for service, which is just below the record number of calls that were handled in 2010.

Working side by side with the community, we have achieved our goal of reducing crime in many categories. Many crime categories have been reduced, but one area where I am particularly pleased to see a reduction is child abuses cases. We experienced a 36 percent reduction in child abuse cases this year when compared to last year. This is an impressive accomplishment.

For several years, the Department has worked toward becoming state accredited. Working together, the employees of this Department obtained State accreditation this year. Accreditation standards assure the citizens that the Police Department meets specific criteria set forth by the Idaho Chiefs of Police Association. This is a significant millstone for the Post Falls Police Department. Our Department is a professional organization and this achievement shows our commitment to be one of the finest law enforcement agencies in the country.

In late December of this year, we were notified by Law Officer Magazine, that we would be the first featured police agency, in a series called "Americas Finest". This article, which will be published in the January 2012 edition of Law Officer Magazine, spotlights the impressive achievements of your Police Department. We are both honored and proud to receive this recognition.

Another example of the professionalism of this Department is the incredible citizen feedback the Department receives on a daily basis. Through our anonymous Citizen Survey Program we obtain feedback from customers that have interacted with the men and women of the Department after they have called for assistance. I am pleased to say that 99% of the surveys we receive back are positive.

As we move forward, continuing on our path of excellence, I would like to give a heartfelt thank you to the men and women of this Department. Your passion to excel is admirable and your dedication to quality service is as steadfast as it is extraordinary.

Lastly, but certainly not least, I would also like to thank the Mayor, City Council, City Administrator Keck and the entire Post Falls community for the continued support of your Police Department. We look forward to serving you in 2012.
