Leland E. Hodge, 75

| March 17, 2012 9:00 PM

Leland’s parents, Mr. William Henry Hodge and Nellie Gladys Cooper, were united in marriage at his father Steve and Barbara Hodge’s home. They moved into an old log house on School Street at the foot of the city park, where the first five children were born. They had four girls, Fay, Betty, Ida and Deloris. After the girls, they finally had a son which made us all so very happy. Leland was born on Dec. 13, 1936, a beautiful baby boy who made all his sisters very proud to have a brother. When Leland was 3 years old, the family moved to Union, Ore. They lived there for about 3 years and Leland started 1st grade. When Leland was 6, a pair of twin brothers joined the family. On April 30, 1942, Wayne Keith Hodge and Dwaine Kay were born. It was very exciting to have two newborns join the family.

When the twins were 8 years old, another brother joined the family. Larry Daniel Hodge was born Feb. 26, 1951. By then all the girls were married and had started their own families.

Leland was born in 1936 and died in March 2012. He is survived by son William Floyd, wife Michelle Hodge and daughter Kaylee Elaine Hodge; son John Lee, wife Martha Hodge and daughter Iris Rose Hodge; one sister, Betty June Radke-Dye, and a brother Larry Daniel Hodge. Sister Fay Poasch raised 11 children and is now deceased; Betty raised 6 children. Ida Benette had 5 children but is deceased. Deloris Knapp had 3 sons, she’s deceased. Dwaine Kay died in April 1994 and Wayne Keith died on March 19, 2009. Leland’s wife Iris C. Hodge preceded him in death on April 5, 1998.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon Monday, March 19, 2012, at English Funeral Chapel, 1700 N. Spokane St., Post Falls. A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Monday, March 19, 2012, at Real Life Ministries in the Upper Room Building 1, 1866 N. Cecil Rd., Post Falls.
