George “Skip” Roysland, 90

George “Skip” Roysland, age 90, from Fosston, Minn., and formerly from Coeur d’Alene, passed away on Thursday, March 15, 2012, at First Care Living Center in Fosston. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, March 20, 2012, at Kingo Lutheran Church in Fosston with the Rev. John Dalen officiating. Interment will be in Landsverk Cemetery, rural Fosston.  Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the church. Arrangements are with the Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home of Fosston and messages of condolence may be sent at carlinhoialmen. com. Memorials are preferred to Kingo Lutheran Church and the Loaves & Fishes Food Shelf of Fosston.

George Obert Roysland was born on Nov. 22, 1921, in International Falls, Minn., to Halvor and Thora (Landsverk) Roysland. 

At the age of 11, George moved with his parents to Fosston, where he was confirmed at Kingo Lutheran Church and graduated from Fosston High School with the class of 1939.

After high school he attended Bemidji State College for one year. He then worked in Minneapolis and Duluth for a short time before beginning work for Diamond International in Coeur d’Alene, where he worked until retirement.

George loved bowling and received honors in the sport. He was also an avid fan of basketball, especially the Gonzaga, Washington, team.  He was also a charter member of the Eagles Lodge.

Survivors include his sister, Bernice of Fergus Falls, Minn.; sister-in-law, Mary Roysland; and nephew, Michael (Kim) Roysland of Fosston; niece, Roberta (George) Reck of Moorhead, Minn,; great niece, Kelly Roysland of Minneapolis, Minn.; great nephew, Joshua Roysland of Fargo, N.D.; and friends, Carol Baisch and Wes Morgan of Coeur d’Alene.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Robert Roysland; niece, Patricia Roysland; great nephew, Eric Reck; and dear friend Marcella Morgan.
