Catching salmon seminar today

| March 8, 2012 8:15 PM

Jeff Smith, the owner of local tackle shop Fins and Feathers, will be giving a seminar on catching salmon on Lake Coeur d'Alene today at Mark's Marine.

"With the popular Big One Derby, fishing for these Chinook was one of our most requested seminar topics last year and Jeff was the logical choice for us on who was the most qualified angler in our area to give it," according to a press release.

Smith has been helping people catch fish since 1984 when he opened Fins and Feathers in our area.

"It's always a great treat having Jeff speak for us and it looks to be a great seminar to kick off our 2012 season," the release said.

Last year's spring seminars were a great success for Mark's Marine, with several new records set for attendance.

For each seminar, Mark's Marine clears the show room floor and either sets up a stage or a boat rigged for that kind of fishing depending on what the seminar speaker requests.

"We are really looking forward to this year's seminar series here at Mark's Marine. It should be a good night to talk fishing and have some fun," the release said.

This year's speakers include a number of new seminar topics.

All seminar's take place here at Mark's Marine, 14355 N. Government Way, every Thursday from 6:30-8 p.m. The seminars run from March 8 until April 12.

There's coffee and cookies and some great door prizes.
