TRIBE: Thanks for nutrition donation

As co-volunteer leaders of the packers for the recently initiated Weekend Nutrition Program for students in the Post Falls School District, we would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the Coeur d'Alene Tribal Council and Chief Allen for their most generous contribution. These funds will help keep this important nutrition program viable for now and into the future.

As volunteers who are retired teachers, we believe this program is an important tool in the education of our young people. Your generosity is greatly needed and appreciated.

Again, with sincere appreciation, we wish to thank you for your participation.

CHILDREN: Competent, inquisitive individuals

Years of research has shown that the impact on young children's development is associated with the quality of interactions provided by the world around them. With this understanding the North Idaho College Children's Center staff has made it our mission to treat children as we see them; as individuals who are competent and inquisitive.

For many years I have been passionate about our project approach and emergent curriculum. This is a process by which children learn through investigating ideas that are relevant and interesting to them. We value family and community participation as an intricate part of early education because we know that children form their views about the world through early relationships and experiences. We do this by partnering with various programs and organizations on campus. Our campus community has provided us with many opportunities to partner together in a variety of ways to enrich the educational experience for the children in our center.

Throughout the years we have been welcomed by many community members with open arms to help pursue our endeavors as well. On behalf of our children, families, and our professional representatives I would like to extend a warm thank you for your time and willingness to support us in our purpose of providing the highest quality of care for the future of our world.

Without you we would not have been able to explore in depth such things as graphic design (AHA Creative), bones (Dr. Randal Priebe from Chiropractic Pain Relief), hunting and fishing (Cabela's), mazes (Carver Farms), cooking (Super 1 Foods and Papa Murphy's), boats (The Coeur d'Alene Resort), science (Lakes Middle School), dance (The Coeurly Q Square Dance Club), bees (Keith Clemens), eyeballs and ninjas (Jason Hopkins), and so many more.

Sincerely,

NIC: Thanks for teamwork, hospitality

Coeur d'Alene and Post Falls High Schools would like to say "thank you" to North Idaho College, Athletic Director Al Williams, men's basketball coaches Jared Phay and Corey Symons, and the NIC cheerleaders for opening their gymnasium to both schools on Tuesday, Feb. 21. The two high schools were scheduled to play the 5A regional championship game at Coeur d'Alene High School. During player introductions the roof developed a leak. After determining the leak would not stop we made an emergency phone call to NIC, and without hesitation NIC immediately opened up their gym and concession stand to the two high schools. CHS was able to reroute the game directly to the NIC gym and complete the whole game, but without the hospitality of NIC we wouldn't have been able to play on Tuesday.

Thank you to North Idaho College, Al, Jared, Corey and the cheerleaders.
