Building Better Caregivers

| June 27, 2012 9:15 PM

Are you caring for a loved one with dementia or memory problems? Are you feeling overwhelmed and not sure where to turn for support? In an ongoing effort to better serve caregivers, the Area Agency on Aging of North Idaho is pleased to announce a free, online caregiver support workshop called Building Better Caregivers.

"Oftentimes caregivers learn about workshops in the community, but taking time away from a loved one prohibits their participation," said Laura Valentino, student intern at the Area Agency on Aging.

That is why this new, innovative online approach is working for caregivers across the country. Building Better Caregivers is an evidence-based workshop designed for small groups of 25 and is offered online, creating access any time of the day, any day of the week.

Caregivers log on at their convenience two or three times a week during this six-week instructor-led workshop. Caregivers will learn ways to manage fatigue and stress and focus on their own health and needs, working through guided exercises and action plans.

For more information, please visit www.aaani.org or call Laura Valentino, Area Agency on Aging, at (208) 667-3179 ext. 248. "Building Better Caregivers" is offered to residents of Idaho.
