Lois Jean Belden, 86

Lois Jean Belden, 86, passed away Tuesday, June 19, 2012, in Sandpoint.

Lois was born Aug. 11, 1925, in Sandpoint to Leslie A. and Daisy Mae (Palmer) Rohlf. She attended elementary school in Sandpoint, and at age 11 moved to Metaline Falls, Wash., to live with her father and stepmother.

Lois was a clerk for the Civil Service in Hawaii during World War II. She married Edward R. Belden in 1946 and the couple had three children. She worked for many years as a waitress, a career that she truly enjoyed, as it gave her an opportunity to meet people from all over the world. Lois retired in 1988 and moved to North Idaho.

She volunteered for the Senior Companion’s and was a member of the Rambling Rovers in Coeur d’Alene. She enjoyed playing cards, dice and bingo.

She is survived by her daughter, Teri Nickisch of Sandpoint; two sons, Rolf (Cindy) Belden of Jackson, Wyo., and Roy (Sally) Belden of Montesano, Wash.; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and one half-sister, Lesley Cody of Metaline Falls.

She was preceded in death by her parents, son-in-law Keith Nickisch, half-sister Adrian Flessas and half-brother Phil Bendixon.
