Bayley, Pouttu place high

in Junior Worlds qualifier

NAMPA - Derek Bayley of Lakeland High finished in a tie for sixth in the boys age 15-17 division Monday at Ridgecrest Golf Course in a qualifier for the Junior World tournament next month at Torrey Pines in San Diego.

Bayley shot a 2-over-par 74. Kyle Miley (69) of Twin Falls, Mark Brassey (69) of Boise and David Elliot (70) of Twin Falls qualified for Junior Worlds.

Kaceelyn Pouttu of Kellogg tied for third in the girls 15-17 division with a 2-over 74. Amy Hasenoehrl (70) of Lewiston and Gabby Barker (73) of Caldwell qualified for Junior Worlds.

Bulldogs land transfer

Barham from Memphis

SPOKANE - Drew Barham, a redshirt junior at the University of Memphis this past season, will transfer to Gonzaga this fall, coach Mark Few confirmed.

Barham, a native of Memphis, played in 49 games with 11 starts for the Tigers and averaged 2.0 points and 1.1 rebounds per game, while averaging six minutes a game. He had career highs of 13 points and 9 rebounds against Centenary as a sophomore, and had a game-high two steals three times, the last coming against Gonzaga in 2011 in the Spokane Arena.

Barham, a 6-foot-7, 195-pound wing and a 4.0 student, redshirted this past season and will have two seasons of eligibility remaining.

He was a two-time recipient of the Conference USA Academic Medal for the 2010-11 and 2011-12 academic years, and was named to the Conference USA Commissioner's Honor Roll for each of the past three years. He graduated with a degree in Sports and Leisure Management and will enroll in a graduate program at Gonzaga.

NIC Booster Club to meet

at Cd'A Resort for summer

The North Idaho College Booster Club luncheon will place at the Coeur d'Alene Resort every second and last Tuesday of the month through the summer, and will not alternate their meeting at the Outback Steakhouse during the summer.

They will return to the Outback Steakhouse in October for the first meeting of each month.

The public is welcome to attend the luncheons. The cost of lunch is not covered.
