Indians commit five errors, drop series finale

SPOKANE - The Spokane Indians committed a season-high five errors and the Vancouver Canadians won the final game of their season opening five-game Northwest League series 7-1 in front of 4,315 on Tuesday at Avista Stadium.
Three Vancouver (4-1) pitchers combined to strike out 14 Spokane hitters, one night after one-hitting the Indians.
Former Arizona State outfielder Matt Newman had a pinch hit two-run double in the ninth for Vancouver.
Ryan Kua hit a solo home run in the seventh for Spokane (1-4), which travels to Everett to begin a five-game series starting tonight at 7:05 p.m.
Taylor Dennis was charged with six runs, five unearned in two innings of relief for Spokane.
